Online Tutoring Services
My online sessions are lively and engaging.
I incorporate multi-sensory components that are at the core of the Orton Gillingham-style method, along with structure and a systematic procedure. Barton Reading and Spelling is the program I utilize. It is evidence-based and one of the most successful programs available! It is not uncommon to experience success within the first three months of working together.
Two sessions per week is the minimum suggested. Each session is 50 minutes in length. Educational games are incorporated into our curriculum to keep the environment fun and engaging.
At the conclusion of each level, a post-test review is given to assure that the student has a solid understanding of the materials learned. Concepts are mastered before moving ahead to the next level.
Online tutoring provides a great environment for dyslexic children to learn!
Efficient in both time and energy for busy families, my students tune-in with me from either home or school. No commuting time and cost. Staying healthy is just a little bit easier, too!
I use TutorBird to keep in touch with my families.
TutorBird serves as a communication hub that connects me with my families. It facilitates communication, provides updates on progress, offers a central location for file sharing, and streamlines invoicing and payments—all in one convenient place!
Assessments are typically given at the beginning of our work together, before remediation starts. This gives us the best current condition and/or abilities and can allow us to establish the strengths and weaknesses specific to your child.
I utilize the Neurolearning Dyslexic Screener as it is comprehensive and will also give broader-scope results on components like, for example, working memory and/or visual processing. Despite not being a formal diagnostic tool, it does give us great information as the what the risk for dyslexia might be. I have found it to be an excellent assessment tool.
It was created by Brock Eide M.D., M.A. and Fernette Eide M.D, a husband and wife team dedicated to the study of dyslexia. They are located in the Pacific NW and cofounders of the non-profit Dyslexic Advantage.
